Upgrade Your Hot Water System with Government Rebates
Eligible Victorian households can upgrade to a modern heat pump hot water system through the Victorian Energy Upgrades (VEU) program and access up to $3,000 in rebates.
Let Energy Upgrade Solutions guide you through the process from eligibility to installation.
Victorian Energy Upgrades (VEU) program
You may qualify for a government rebate when upgrading your old water heater to an energy-efficient air-source heat pump system.
Water heating can make up to 40% of energy costs, particularly in colder Australian regions. Through the Victorian Energy Upgrades (VEU) program, eligible Victorian businesses can receive rebates to help cover the cost of replacing inefficient gas or electric systems with modern heat pump hot water units.
Rebate amounts depend on system size, efficiency, installation costs, and potential energy savings.
Who Is Eligible for Hot Water Upgrades?
Victorian households and businesses currently using conventional electric resistance water heaters are eligible for the Victorian heat pump rebate when upgrading or replacing their existing hot water system.
Is the Replacement Free?
In many cases, water heater replacement and heat pump installation can be free. However, homeowners or businesses may need to contribute toward the product cost if it is not fully covered under the government heat pump hot water rebate. If the selected system is fully rebate-covered, no upfront cost applies.
How to Claim the Heat Pump Rebate in Victoria
To access the rebate for replacing your water heater with an air-source heat pump system, the following steps apply:
You (the customer) provide proof of property ownership along with details of your existing water heater.
Share an approximate estimate of your daily hot water usage at your home or business.
Based on this information, we provide a quote using a heat pump system selected by our licensed plumbers and certified heat pump technicians.
Our installer conducts an on-site inspection to assess installation feasibility, including electrical wiring and plumbing requirements.
Once installation is completed, we claim the rebate on your behalf and deduct the rebate amount directly from the product cost.
